Derek McCreanor
Enhance Acoustics was founded in 2018 by Derek McCreanor. Derek has been involved in the audio industry for over 20 years, beginning his career as a performing musician and quickly developing into the role of a live sound engineer.
Derek moved into the world of acoustics after completing his Masters degree in Music and Media Technology at Trinity College Dublin in 2013. He began his career as a junior acoustic consultant in 2014 with an Irish based acoustic firm in which he worked on numerous large scale projects such as DIT Music Conservatoire Grangegorman, Co. Dublin, Troy Studios Sound Stage, Co. Limerick and numerous large scale residential, educational and commercial projects at home and abroad.
It was in this role that Derek achieved his Diploma in Acoustics and Noise Control with merit status through the Institute of Acoustics and went on to complete his Masters in Applied Acoustics with Merit through the University of Derby in the UK.
Derek became a corporate member of the Institute of Acoustics in 2016 and is currently working towards CEng through the Institute of Acoustics
In 2018 Derek established Enhance Acoustics and although the company is only in its infancy the company has already gained a reputable portfolio of clients at home and abroad. In 2019 Enhance Acoustics provided a full end to end service for the prestigious piano manufacturer Steinway & Sons in New York. Enhance Acoustics not only provided acoustic consultancy and design services for their bespoke VIP showroom at their New York factory but they also designed, constructed and project managed the installation of all acoustic treatment in this amazing space. Enhance Acoustics continue a working relationship with Steinway & Sons in developing their new tuning rooms at the factory.

- In 2020 Enhance Acoustics was awarded the Innovation Award at the Local Enterprise Awards. This award recognizes our unique approach to the services we provide and our ability to delivery creative solutions.
- In 2019 Enhance Acoustics was awarded the Emerging Business Award at the Local Enterprise Awards in recognition of our performance over our first year trading.
Work with Acorn Midlands Education & Training Service
Acorn Midlands Education and Training Service (AMETS) was established to make education more accessible for people of all ages, background and ability. AMETS provides safe, non judgmental spaces and a non formal approach to learning. Derek has taught Amplify – a youth initiative designed to teach learners key skills in the area of audio and how it relates to the media industry.
